Hello!
Tuesdays and Fridays are my days to write on the blog, and maybe some extra days inbetween. As part of the series of exhibitions or happenings that are taking place in the lead up to the final Exhibition, I am planning to do some site specific work around Canterbury. I would like to create some small paintings of different locations in Canterbury on fragile material, such as post it notes, paper and masking tape, or on natural objects I have found from the locations. I would then place the paintings in the actual locations, in places which are slightly hidden or maybe unoticed to a passer by who isnt looking for them. I will take photos immediately afterwards to document them, and then return to the locations on a later date to see what has happened to them. Here are some artists who have inspired this idea:

Margaret Barron- miniature oil paintings cited outdoors |

Slinkachu's street art- makes miniature people and 'abandons' them in the streets of London |
![]() |
Invader- mosaics are built and installed in the streets of a city during a period of 'invasion' |
I could display the documentation photographs in the final exhibition, either on the wall on in a different format such as a book, alongside my other larger paintings of Canterbury I from a previous project.
Another idea is that I make a little poster or map which acts as a 'treasure hunt' where the public can be actively engaged and search for my miniature painting installations.
I am planning to go around Canterbury tomorrow to search for and photograph possible sites so you will hear more from me soon.
Rachael
