Today
was much more relaxed then our manic adventure in Margate yesterday! I finished
writing my artist statement as we are all going to meet up again tomorrow to do
the finishing touches and get the proposal sent off as soon as possible.
I had
a look at the objects I had collected on Saturday and cleaned them a bit to
make it easier to paint on as most were covered in mud (and a bit smelly!).
Objects drying |
I
started painting some scenes onto a few, they are not finished yet but here is
a photo of the work in progress:
I have
decided to try and do around 30 small paintings, and planning to spend
around 1-3 hours on each one, depending on the size and level of detail.
Although I am aware of the tight timescale and other demands from my studio
project so I may have to adapt my plan later. I will have to go searching again
for more objects to paint on and take more photos at some more locations.

Old map of canterbury but the basic plan is the same |
- Westgate Gardens- 10
paintings
- Canterbury High
Street- 5 paintings
- Dane John
Gardens/city wall- 10 paintings
- Mill Park/river- 5
paintings
Hopefully
I will finish them around 11th March so I can reposition them back in
their original locations, document them and then advertiste the 'search for the
missing paintings' before the week for our final exhibition (ideally at Crate).
