Today was an exciting day since we got to see Crate Gallery space in Margate which is the space we are hoping to exhibit in in our final event. The first challenge of the day was to actually find the gallery,  Rachael and I had a hard time misreading our map(printed out from google..heaven knows if it even showed Margate or if I had managed to print out a map of some other town) and walking through the snowblended rain in the completely wrong direction. So I finally decided to change tactics and do as I usually do when I'm travelling (read: when I'm lost): I stopped a gentleman and asked him if he kindly could point out where on the map we were at the moment. He looked a bit confused and said
-well you're not on the map!
And then he actually guided us to the town centre where we thanked him for helping us out, and then we managed to find kfc and the gallery spaces opposite to it: Limbo and Crate
We got a warm welcoming+the space was PERFECT!! Here are some pictures of the space:

It is divided into 3 spaces:
PROJECT SPACE 1

THE CORRIDOR

PROJECT SPACE 2

This afternoon Jennie, Rachael and myself discussed and planned various possibilities for the spaces and how to exhibit what pieces etcetera. For now we have divided it into Rachael's+Jennie's space=project space 1, my space=project space 2, the corridor would be the crucial collaborative wallspace needed to combine all elements. It will be a difficult task but rather challenging and exciting than easy and boring I think : ) Tomorrow I'll spend the day painting and rewriting our proposal which we will send in on Wednesday. Then we will just have to cross our fingers and hope for the best.

And yes I promised to tell about the idea with my paintings.
Each painting has a theme-a question or a thought which is connected to the image. The paintings will be exhibited faced down on the floor, the viewer will choose one to flip over(quite hard work-they are fairly heavy) and get to read the question from a booklet I will exhibit next to the paintings. On the exhibition opening I will read out the question for the viewer once he or she has chosen.

And from deep inside, hiding in the mists, you might spot your power animal if you really dare to try.
But did it spot you first? And can you ever see it as clearly as it observes you?

If we are all trapped in this mesh of red thread which flows between our hands and our feet, connecting us to each other so when I move my arm your arm is pulled with the movement and contrariwise, can we exist in complete independence and can we exist as a whole?

Queen of Cups sits in her addiction, she knows it might drown her but for now she is immortal. It is simply warming her stomach and her legs and her cold tired feet. Do we all have our pools? How high is the level of yours and will you know when the water reaches your neck?
I imagine myself in a white room. From my white room I find the world as I know it has ended outside. From my window I see only blackness, nothingness. What do I do?

I must go to bed now or I'll fall asleep in the sofa. Good day today, tiring but successful : )

  1. Great photographs Nadja and your work looks great. I still love the figure looking through the window best, but I do like all those cups!! Just a little confused about the rewriting of the statement. I thought that we did that today together in agreement, and now we need to all rewrite our statements and send them to you to collate. Mine might change if the proposal is changed so catch me in college tomorrow please!! : )) x Jennie
