(This post was written on Friday but delayed due to technical difficulties)
I can’t believe it is Friday already, this week has gone sooo quickly! I have made slow progress on the practical side but have done a lot of thinking. I have finished 5 paintings onto stones of the Westgate Garden series:
I am pleased with the paintings as although they didn’t take me too long they still look detailed and attractive. I want them to be precious objects of desire that the public find and then keep as a lasting memory. It would be good is the person that finds an object can relate to the scene painting onto it, as if it was painted especially for them and conjuring up special memories of being in that particular place.
I think I will hide the objects gradually, focusing on specific areas so the search is spread out over a period of time. I am going to do 5 more paintings for the Westgate series, painting on a variety of objects; a thick log, brick, piece of slate, conker shell, and hide a painting in a bottle. Once this series is completed I will discretely hide them in the gardens then immediately put up posters and tell people about the search. I will make separate posters for each search. I think I will just hide them in different gardens or parks rather than in the high street since I think the game-like activity would suit this environment best. Hopefully it will be a fun, enjoyable and rewarding task for people of all ages and once one search is over they will be looking forward to the next.
