Today I went and took some photos around the Westgate Gardens, which is one location in Canterbury which I wanted to use for my miniature paintings. I was also planning to take photos around the high street but thought it would be too busy on a saturday.
I photographed locations which I could attatch paintings to or hide paintings in:
Urban furniture that I can attatch a painting too |
A Natural hiding place for a painting |
I photographed objects found and their locations before collecting them to paint onto:
Location- a bench under the tree in the centre of the gardens |
Object found- A big bit of fallen bark underneath the bench |
I photographed possible scenes around the location that I could paint onto the object:
A lady walking her dog by the tree |
I wanted these scenes to be full of people engaged in activity in the environment, however it was a cold, grey and stormy looking day so there wasnt many people around. The weather made my photos look a bit dreary too so I decided not to stay out for too long and do some more searching another day.
Its was good to make a start to this site specific project and I now have some material to work with.
