So how do you like the makeover of our blog?
Yesterday was a bit of a disappointment to our group but it is just to pick yourself up the ground, brush the dust off your shoulders and keep on going!
Today we had a meeting to rethink and come up with some kind of strategy how to continue. Afterwards I think we all felt more positive again and now we have a new plan which I will not reveal yet but in a post further on when things are a bit more certain.
Now I will post some images of my current work in progress:
The frames/boxes for my paintings are finally measured, cut and glued and the hinges are stuck on both with glue and drilled-in screws. What I thought would take me about 10 minutes has actually lasted three days now and the boxes are (as you can see) not yet completed. But the whole process has turned out to be very educational for me as well as challenging. I am learning new things constantly! The technician called it my "trial and error" project since these boxes are bigger and thinner than any common box made by a student, so it is new and untried for the technicians as well. Also a lot of time has been spent on searching through shops for the right kind and size of hinges and the fantastically helpful technician even phoned a special store in Wincheap to assure they had the type of wood adhesive and screws I needed so I wouldn't walk there for nothing. Now everything needs to dry over the weekend and on Monday I'll glue the doors to the hinges and this will be a critical moment cause they need to be exactly straight and in the right place+I don't want to get glue into the hinges and affect the mobility of the door's opening and closing.

And now I thought I could leave you with some artist websites I find inspiring:
Tacita Dean-Transferring a space to a second space through projection or large scale drawings.
Edwina Ashton-Lovely animations
Francis Alÿs-Genious films documenting and being art.
Since the other two thirds of the group are away in Germany next week I will write Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. If all goes according to plan Jennie will do Wednesday as a report from abroad : )
Have a nice weekend!
Nadja
