It has been great to be back to college and to advance our project together. As Nadja said yesterday was a busy day with so many meetings and some important decisions to make together. (I had one tutorial with my tutor which plus our two project meetings was quite enough! but that was two less that Nadja and one less than Rachael had!) We did our basic design for our publicity, and today I could collect A2 image to give to Peter, our printing technician, to photo transfer onto a silk screen so that I can do a test print on Friday. I can't wait! I also prepared a small image of a bull to perhaps add to the design. To- morrow I want to photo shop an image of Crate as a possible background/ghost image for the poster. Nadja has taken the pdf file home to add the text for our smaller posters which will she will put on a face book event page, and then send it to the mailing list that Matthew from Limbo passed onto her while we were in Germany. Thank you Nadja! I wonder what it will look like with the text.
It all sounds frantic but actually most of today was spent doing an egg tempura workshop. Nadja was also there. We sanded down the gesso boards after Mike gave us a very interesting and informative introduction (which included some almost scientific little experiments) We then started to mix the wonderful colourful pigments with the egg yolk mix. I am trying to copy a detail from a 'The Magdalen Reading' by Rogier Van Der Weyden. It is such a perfect image that I am a little scared! Other than that I have reclaimed my studio space. I am contemplating altering my painting quite radically.
Tomorrow I have my film showings in the lecture theatre. This includes a film that Nadja made of her sleeve performance. I am just a little nervous that the equipment works. Other than that I have burned on all the films and animations onto one CD and labelled them so it should be simple! Before I set up this I have to help set up life drawing before the model arrives at 9.45am. Trying to do too much as usual. I do wonder if that is a redthreadtrail tendency! We are all hard workers and very motivated. This bodes well for our test/experimental sessions in the blue space next week.
This is the beautiful Hlliogen blue when mixed with water and methylated spirits.
We have been discussing if we might use the blog as our group piece in the central space at crate. If we do there will be some editing to do so that things fit on the page....... so I will stop now!
Have a great evening,
Jennie
