Wednesday 20th March

Hi!

Well it has been a really pleasant day. Some days seem like one big nightmare with one hitch after another, and happily some not. I got into college early because I wanted to burn my film onto a DVD so that I could show the others, especially Rachael whom I am sharing an exhibition space with. She thought that it would fit in well so I am quiet relieved. My 16mml film clip is edited into this short film.

After that I needed to do some small alterations to the text for the back of the zine (also for the exhibition) so that I could send it to the print bureau to print out, and to give to Pete our print technician to transfer onto a silk screen. All done, so I hope that I can begin the printing process on Friday. I will post a picture of this later as I forgot to take a photograph! (It is using the map on the header of this blog). Time is passing quickly and we only have a week until the end of term. Personally I wish we had longer as I am getting excited about my painting.

Monday was a very stressful day, but necessary, and constructive. I think that it really got us working together on our project, and things have advanced. I have to say my head was spinning, my brain was on overdrive, and I did not get much sleep after our sessions. I was also anxious about my film as it was on the desk top of a computer which was out of order, with the technician away on leave. However all is rectified now! Aine got back to us with some very helpful feedback, and now we just have to put some time into finishing off things and a little decision making on the corridor space.

Yes today! All three of us did an oil painting workshop in the painting studio with Mike. It was brilliant and really good to focus on what we like to do best! The painting studio has a lovely smell and atmosphere especially when we are mixing oils. It is a bit like alchemy experimenting with different pigments and mediums. I think that it did us all good. I have also started a new painting in my studio which makes me feel positive. I have been spending far to much time running around doing other things! Needless to say I was called out for a student meeting with our head at midday, but that did not last too long. I was able to get back to mixing paints and experimenting for the rest of the afternoon.
The workshop was especially good for me as I did printmaking and drawing in my skills sessions last year, missing out on painting.
There is quiet a buzz in college at the moment. Lots of students in our year are having their exhibitions and the third years are beginning their final pieces for their degree show. It is exciting.

my new painting.

The one just finished,
the one that needs the creases taken out, (also hung in the Atrium space)
and the one that hung in the atrium space.
Bye for now,

Jennie
